CRICKET FACTS THAT WE ALL SHOULD KNOW: Anil Kumble Ten Wickets Haul and check out some best pics

Anil Kumble achieved the historic feat of grabbing all ten wickets in an innings against archrivals Pakistan at Delhi's Ferozeshah Kotla Stadium. India went into the match already 1-0 down in the two match series, eager to avenge the narrow 12-run defeat by Pakistan in Chennai a week previously.

Having won the toss and electing to bat, India found the off-spin of Saqlain Mustaq too hot to handle and were all out for 252 early on day two. With the pitch providing generous assistance to spinners, Kumble and Harbhajan Singh bowled out Pakistan for a measly 172.

Early into day four, India were all out for 339 in their second innings and set Pakistan a target of 420 runs. Post-lunch, Kumble got his first success when he had Shahid Afridi caught behind by Nayan Mongia. The very next ball, Ijaz Ahmed was trapped LBW and Kumble was on a hat-trick.

As the spin wizard went about weaving his web around the hapless Pakistanis, the specter of matching Jim Laker's record started emerging.

Pakistan's tail folded out to Kumble's guile and precision and when Washim Akram fell as the last man, Kumble's name made its entry into the record books alongside that of Jim Laker's.

Kumble's analysis of 10 for 74 masks the fact that he took all ten Pakistani wickets in one 21.3 over spell, conceding only 49 runs in the process.

Buoyant Zimbabwe eye series win & Bangladesh Gain Points in Test Cricket Rankings

Buoyant Zimbabwe eye series win
Zimbabwe had been knocking on the doors for a while now. Away at Pakistan and at home against India last month, they turned in several impressive performances only to be denied at the cusp of victory.
That run of near-misses ended after they managed to level the T20I series 1-1 against India last month and now, following a stunning seven-wicket in the first ODI against New Zealand, they stand a chance to complete a rare series win against a side that finished second only to Australia at the World Cup.
If Kane Williamson and Co. thought they could afford to use the Zimbabwe series to slowly build momentum heading into the more strenuous assignment against South Africa, they were in for a rude awakening from Sean Ervine and Hamilton Masakadza. New Zealand now have had just a day to reflect on their defeat before they set about turning the series around.
Short turnarounds between games can go either way. On one hand, there is a chance to put the loss behind as a bad day at the office and get on the field afresh and on the other hand allows a a buoyant Zimbabwe chance to keep the momentum going.
Bangladesh Gain Points in Test Cricket Rankings
Bangladesh have accumulated six points after the rain-marred cricket Test series against South Africa that ended in a draw.
The second and final Test was called off on the fifth day due to the wet outfield at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium here on Monday after the first match suffered a similar fate. The hosts, ranked ninth in Tests, now have 47 points as the two matches barely allowed four days of action in total,
Bangladesh also managed a draw in the one-off Test against India in June. They took two points in the Fatullah Test which lost nine sessions to the rain. Hence, the hosts earned eight points playing just six days in three Tests.
Mushfiqur Rahim, however, is unwilling to give rain all the credit for their first ever series draw against the Proteas.
"Many are saying rain saved Bangladesh. It is not like that at all. Let's talk about this match. Scoring 246 on this wicket is like scoring 350 on others. I batted here myself, I know the wicket was not easy at all. We played well in the last Test as well. We have achieved much in this series," the captain said.

Virat Kohli hints at three spinners in the eleven during Sri Lanka tour: Ravichandran Ashwin Can be the All-Rounder we Are Looking for-Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli hints at three spinners in the eleven during Sri Lanka tour
Indian Test captain Virat Kohli has always favoured including five bowlers in the eleven and he is likely to do the same during the three-Test series against Sri Lanka.
Kohli, who mentioned that including an extra bowler gives the team better chance of taking 20 wickets, hinted at the possibility of a three-spin attack during the Sri Lankan tour. The Indian skipper also expressed his confidence in Ravichandran Ashwin's batting abilities and said there is no reason why the off-spinner can't be the all-rounder that the Indian team is looking for in longer version.
"You need to play a stronger bowling side in order to win Test matches and it's more exciting and satisfying as well. Yes, that's a possibility (three spinners).
The idea is to take 20 wickets. I strongly believe that you need to your best bowlers to play in order to give your team a chance to do that. The whole idea of playing five bowlers is that the top six have to take more responsibility. Ashwin, Bhuvi and Bhajji are all handy with the bat.
Ashwin has a Test average of 40 and I cannot see that why he can't be that all-rounder for us. That's the challenge. Giving people goals and asking them to improve in certain aspects where the team requires," Kohli told media persons at the pre-departure press conference in Chennai.
Ravichandran Ashwin Can be the All-Rounder we Are Looking for-Virat Kohli
Indian Test captain Virat Kohli expressed his confidence in Ravichandran Ashwin's batting abilities and said that there is no reason why the Tamil Nadu tweaker can't be the all-rounder that the Indian team is looking for in longer version.
"Ashwin, Bhuvi and Bhajji are all handy with the bat. Ashwin has a Test average of 40 and I cannot see that why he can't be that all-rounder for us. That's the challenge. Giving people goals and asking them to improve in certain aspects where the team requires," Kohli told mediapersons at the pre-departure press conference ahead of three-Test series in Sri lanka.

Kohli excited about captaincy:Australia A Outplay India A by 10 wickets

Kohli excited about captaincy

India's Test captain Virat Kohli believes that he has always been a responsible batsman and that there was not a pressing need to tone down his aggression or change the way he plays

Kohli believed that his maturity was one of the reasons why he was given captaincy.
"As a batsman I have always been responsible with the way I play my cricket and it comes from wanting to win the game for the team every time I play. So I don't think I need to change too much in that aspect. I think that is one of the major reasons that the board thought that I could be the man to take up responsibility for the team.
"It all boils down to how you play your cricket eventually and that's the way I have always played my cricket, be it on the field, be it the way I bat, I always give my 100 percent. Putting in that extra effort in batting I don't think is required because I have always played in a responsible way for the team. And I will continue to that till the time I play for my country," said Kohli.
Kohli is also excited about his first full-fledged series as India captain.
Australia A Outplay India A by 10 wickets
Failing to put up any fight against a rampaging Australia A, India A suffered a 10-wicket loss in the second unofficial 'Test' to go down 0-1 in the two-match cricket series here on Saturday.

Starting on their overnight score of 267 for six, the Cheteshwar Pujara-led side crashed to 274 all out as pace spearhead Gurinder Sandhu (4-76) wiped the India A tail within the first half hour of the fourth and final day's morning session at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
Needing 61 for a win, openers Cameron Bancroft (21 not out) and Usman Khawaja (41 not out) completed the formalities in double quick time.

England Thrash Australia in Three Days to Grab Series Lead
Ian Bell delighted a capacity crowd at his Warwickshire home ground with a sparkling unbeaten fifty as England beat Australia by eight wickets to win the third Test at Edgbaston on Friday.
Victory, achieved with more than two days to spare, saw England go 2-1 up in the five-match Ashes series.
England, set a modest victory target of 121, finished on 124 for two after lunch on Friday's third day.
There was a moment of concern for England when captain Alastair Cook (seven) was bowled by a superb swinging delivery from left-arm paceman Mitchell Starc to leave the hosts seven for one.
But Bell, roared on by England fans in a sun-drenched crowd, then took charge with a flurry of four fours in seven balls off Starc, including one down the ground and a classic cover-drive.
Bell, arguably England's most elegant batsman, then late cut off-spinner Nathan Lyon to the third man rope.

TRENDING!! Bangladesh confident of upset win against SA:Steven Finn's Fifer Puts England in Firm Control vs Australia

Bangladesh confident of upset win against SA
Captain Mushfiqur Rahim said. Speaking to reporters in Dhaka on Wednesday, Rahim said his players dominated the last Test against the Proteas in Chittagong before rain forced a draw.

"It is an opportunity against the world's number one team and  put them under pressure,"We almost dominated them in every sessions of the last match and we have the capability to pick up 20 wickets. But it's not that we can win in one day, so we need to be consistent and that is a big challenge.

Steven Finn's Fifer Puts England in Firm Control vs Australia

At the close of a remarkable second day, Australia were 168 for seven in their second innings -- a lead of just 23 runs with three wickets standing and three days left to play.
